In 1983, Michael Balshin graduated from the Kiev Medical Institute. After an
internship in the specialty internal medicine he worked as intern of a hematological
department of the Kiev Regional Clinical Hospital. Later, Dr. Balshin was appointed to
the post of head of the hematological department. Mikhail was a member of the board of
the Ukrainian Scientific Society of Hematology and transfusion, held the post of Chief of
the Health Department of the Kyiv Regional State Administration.
Later, Dr. Balshin continued his professional career in Germany, where he worked in
health care settings:
- physician full-time oncology / hematology clinic of Dr. M. Adler, Braunschweig, Germany (Cancer Society of Lower Saxony);
- intern of surgical clinic Marienshtift, Braunschweig, Germany;
- internal Medicine intern Marienshtift, Braunschweig, Germany.
- hematological hospital Hotel-Dieu, Paris, France (Prof. R. Zittun, the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer);
- clinical and social problems of HIV / AIDS, Toulouse, France;
- clinic for Internal Medicine, Hematology and Oncology, Braunschweig, Germany (Prof.
B. Wermann, German Association of Hematology and Oncology).
He is currently an active member of professional associations:
- Аmerican Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) from 2001;
- Published more than 25 scientific publications including 2 monographs.
