Chemotherapy is one of the main components of cancer treatment, and in some cases of malignant new formations, such as lymphoma, small cell lungs carcinoma, Hodgkin's disease etc. - it is the only possible treatment. The sense of chemotherapy is usage of the medical preparations with medical purpose, inhibiting growth or irrecoverably damaging tumor cells.

Head of Chemotherapy Department
For each kind of tumor on the basis of multiple randomized studies, carried out by the scientists worldwide, doses of cytostatic preparations and modes of their application have been defined. Strict dosage of the preparations depending on body weight, succession and periodicity of their introduction has received the name «chemotherapy protocol».
Naturally, for each disease, for each type of tumor, the chemotherapy protocol includes various cytostatic preparations, which are similar by antitumor activity, but different by mechanism of action. Combination of these preparations allows reaching the maximal effect of chemotherapy. Сhemotherapy protocols are well recognized by the whole global cancer community and are international ones, i.e. approved by the scientific cancer societies (NCCN, ESMO) as the standards of treatment.
In LISSOD, cancer treatment is provided according to international standards of treatment.
Chemotherapy is very important stage of cancer treatment. Chemotherapy after surgical tumor erasion(adjuvant chemotherapy) is conducted with the purpose of prevention of the distant metastasis (as opposed to irradiation therapy, which aim is to prevent local relapse in postoperative period). The reason of unsatisfactory results of surgical treatment is invisible metastases; therefore, the purpose of adjuvant chemotherapy is, first of all, to remove or to suppress for a long period of time the micrometastases of cancer after erasion of the initial nidus of tumor.
If chemotherapy is carried out before operation (for example, in case of the breast cancer, ovarian carcinoma), but its purpose is to diminish the area of tumor, and sometimes its full disappearance, giving an option to carry out organ preserving operation with the patients having cancer of mammary gland (lumpectomy) or conduction of operation of the radical scope with the patients having ovarian carcinoma.
The patients are often scared by the need to undergo chemotherapy, as it may be accompanied with side effects: nausea, vomiting, alopecia, growth of leucopenia. However, one should also remember that on one scale there is recovery and on another scale there are possible side effects, which, although unpleasant, but are the temporary ones.

Accompanying therapy, which is properly prescribed, helps to decrease and even to avoid fully such side effects as nausea and vomiting. Accompanying therapy in LISSOD is also provided according to global cancer recommendations.
Chemotherapeutic Department
LISSOD Chemotherapeutic Department has been established in compliance with international requirements. The department is equipped with modern devices for carrying out chemotherapy that allow controlling velocity and durability of introduction of cytostatic drug. In the department the wards with antibacterial filter have been organized, which allow provision of effectively high dosage chemotherapy and treatment of neutropenic complications. One-bed wards with all conveniences, individual nutrition and round-a-clock nursery care promote as quick recovery of the patient, as possible.
The distinctive feature of LISSOD Chemotherapeutic Department is the fact that the solutions of chemotherapeutic drugs are prepared not by medical nurses, but by specially trained staff in pharmaceutical laboratory, equipped according to international requirements. Calculation of dose is carried out by computer, quantity of drug is controlled by the doctor and the pharmacist. Experience of our doctors allows minimizing probability of side effects in the course of conduction of intensive chemotherapy. Application of specialized protocols of treatment allows reaching maximal result, and effective accompanying therapy improves life quality of patients. In the most cases it is possible to prevent and to avoid such complications, as nausea, vomiting, fever, secondary infection and others. Modern equipment makes possible to provide durable infusions of cytostatic drugs lasting for many days with accurate dosage, without limiting movement of the patient within the hospital and the adjoining landscaped park.
In case of short duration of the chemotherapy course the patient can get a treatment in the comfortable conditions of day hospital, in cozy armchairs, equipped with nurse call button, massage functions and a DVD-player.
